Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a therapeutic hands-on treatment that is gentle, relaxing and non-invasive in nature. A unique and precise range of massage movements have been created to promote lymph flow and improve the overall function of the lymphatic system.

MLD has proven to be beneficial in supporting the detoxification processes, reducing swelling, improving healing, relieving pain, balancing the nervous system, thereby enhancing relaxation and strengthening the immune response.

There is scientific explanation of MLD’s efficacy and international recognition of its value to good health and wellbeing.

The Lymphatic System (LS)

A well-functioning lymphatic system enables people to remain healthy. It plays a key role in the homeostasis (a state of harmony) of the body by maintaining fluid balance and is integral to combating bacteria, viral and fungal diseases, as well as harmful pollutants in our environment. The LS is an essential support to the detoxification carried out by the liver, kidneys, skin and lungs.

A complex network of vessels collects excess fluid from the tissue spaces throughout the body, along with nutrients and anything else that shouldn’t be there, such as metabolic waste products, debris, toxins and foreign bodies. Acting as a secure transport unit this lymph fluid is carried safely to a series of lymph nodes, rich in immune cells, for cleansing, prior to entering the bloodstream, preventing infection or invasion of the body along the way.
